Citrate synthase inhibition by ATP is an example of feedback inhibition because ATP, a product of cellular respiration, signals that the cell has sufficient energy, thus reducing the activity of enzymes early in the pathway like citrate synthase. This inhibition is allosteric (noncompetitive) because ATP binds to a site other than the active site, changing the enzyme's shape and activity, rather than competing with the substrate for the active site, which would be competitive inhibition.
