Intellectual property can be acquired through creation (i.e. inventing or creating something original), registration (i.e. obtaining a patent or copyright), or purchase (i.e. buying the rights to someone else's intellectual property). Licensing and transfer are ways of managing ownership, but not necessarily ways of acquiring it. Purchase and manufacture are not relevant to acquiring ownership of intellectual property.
