In nephrotic syndrome, there is damage to the glomeruli in the kidneys, causing increased permeability and leakage of protein into the urine. This results in hypoalbuminemia and edema. Serum glucose and urine output may vary, but neither is consistently affected. ALB levels would not remain normal in nephrotic syndrome. In nephrotic syndrome, there is significant proteinuria (spilling of protein into urine), which can lead to hypoalbuminemia (low albumin levels in the blood), generalized edema, and an increased risk of infection. Serum glucose levels may be normal or sometimes low, but are not typically elevated. Urine output can be normal or even increased in some cases.
