The English were primarily interested in displacing Indians and settling on their land. This led to the forced removal of countless Native American tribes and communities from their ancestral lands, as well as a long history of conflict and violence. While there were certainly cases of intermarriage and religious conversion, these were not the primary interests of the English in relation to Native Americans. Ruling over Indians as subjects of the English crown was also a goal, but only as a means to an end – namely, the acquisition and exploitation of land and resources. Joining Indian tribes was also not a significant goal for the English, as they generally saw themselves as superior and separate from Native Americans.
