The Answer is In a living tree or freshly cut wood (green), moisture is present in the cell fibers as absorbed water and in the cell cavities as free water. As the wood begins to dry, the water in the cell cavities begins to disappear. Once all free water in the cell cavities is gone, the cell fibers making up the cell walls contain any remaining water. This is the fiber saturation point.
