Most of the fighting during the Thirty Years' War took place in the Germanic lands, particularly in what is now Germany. The war involved many of the different states in the region, as well as various foreign powers, and resulted in widespread devastation and loss of life. While there were battles and campaigns in other parts of Europe, especially towards the end of the war, the majority of the conflict centered on the German-speaking territories.
