The humerus is your upper arm bone. The proximal end of the humerus articulates with the scapula (shoulder bone). The distal end articulates with the radius and ulna (forearm bones).
The humerus is a long bone. A long bone has three sections:
The diaphysis - the shaft (middle section) of the bone.
The epiphysis - the end of each side of the bone.
The proximal epiphysis is the end of the bone closest to the point of attachment.
The distal epiphysis is the end that is farthest away from the point of attachment.
The metaphysis -  the part where the diaphysis meets each epiphysis.
The end of the humerus bone is the epiphysis. The distal epiphysis is the one that is furthest away from your body, therefore it is the end that articulates (moves against) the bones of your forearm (radius and ulna).
