The Diggers of Great Britain were a group of Protestant radicals who advocated for communal ownership of land and the abolition of private property in the mid-17th century. While they did not execute King James I or overthrow parliamentary forces, some of their members and ideas did influence the development of the American colonies. One member, Gerrard Winstanley, even wrote a book promoting the founding of egalitarian colonies in America based on Digger principles.
