Eductional Objective: Minimal change disease is the most common cause of nephrotic syndrome in children.  Classic manifestations include proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, and edema that are usually reversible with corticosteroids.  The principal lesion is a diffuse foot process effacement that can be seen on electron microscopy.  Light and immunofluorescence microscopy are normal.
