Food security is defined as:

A) The uneasy or painful sensation caused by a lack of food. The recurrent and involuntary lack of access to food…[which] may produce malnutrition over time.
B) An inadequate amount of food intake due to a lack of resources.
C) Access by all people, at all times to sufficient food for an active and healthy life… [and] includes at a minimum: the ready availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods, and an assured ability to acquire acceptable foods in socially acceptable ways.
