Orthodontic corrective therapies apply pressure-causing forces on teeth to correct malocclusion. All selections are involved in these forces. They are considered consistent or constant forces, which move teeth because the bone-remodeling system exerts pressure on the root, periodontal ligament, and bone. The result is movement of teeth through bone, with osteoclastic bone destruction (resorption) on one side of a tooth and osteoblastic bone formation (apposition) on the other side.
