The French and Indian War was fought between Great Britain and France, along with their Native American allies, from 1754 to 1763. Great Britain emerged as the victor and became the dominant power in North America, gaining control of French territory in Canada and the Ohio Valley. However, Great Britain did not gain control of Louisiana and Mexico as they were still under Spanish control at the time. The island of Cuba was also not annexed by Great Britain. While Great Britain did have a significant role in the transatlantic slave trade, they did not gain exclusive control of it as it was still carried out by other European powers and by Americans. Lastly, the French settlers in Québec were not driven to Louisiana as a result of the war.
