The United States Follows the Ideology of Democracy Which States

The United States follows the ideology of democracy which states that a government can only govern with the consent of the governed. From information that has been obtained from objective sources, it appears that the communist regime of Fidel Castro, while not approved by the entire citizenry, has indeed helped the conditions of life of the vast majority of Cubans who supported their leader enthusiastically for many years. Then why are we engaged in an embargo designed to effectively topple the regime? What are the real interests of the United States here that supersede the democratic ideology?.
