Communicable diseases such as hepatitis, tuberculosis, strep throat, and respiratory infections could all be transmitted via aerosols. Nonsurgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) should not occur until the disease has been treated for an appropriate length of time as determined in consultation with the physician of record.
