Ethnic identity influences a person's self-concept and sense of belonging, which in turn affects their willingness to seek help. Ethnicity also plays a role in the cultural value system of an individual and their beliefs and attitudes towards seeking treatment. However, ethnicity does not necessarily impact one's belief system directly, and descent and heritage are only one component of ethnic identity. Emotion and belief styles are also part of ethnic identity, but they may not be as salient as the sense of belonging and self-concept.
