Triple bottom line is an approach which argues that firms need to move beyond the economic (which is traditionally seen as the bottom line) but also look at the impacts on the environment and on people. It argues that each of these bottom lines can be measured through a series of metrics (measurements of performance). However the impact on the environment and people is often said to be harder to measure than the economic bottom line.
