E. H. Weber's law concerns the relationship between the perceived strength of a sensation (such as the brightness of a light) and the actual physical stimulus (such as the intensity of the light). It states that the smallest detectable difference between two stimuli (also called the just noticeable difference, or JND) is a constant proportion of the intensity of the original stimulus. This is also known as Weber's fraction.
