Participants in the Farmers' Revolt complained about large profits for middlemen, high freight costs, and high interest rates, but they did not complain about rising commodity prices. The Farmers' Revolt was a Populist political movement that occurred at the end of the 19th century as white sharecroppers in the South and farmers from the Great Plains formed the Farmers' Alliance to protest disadvantageous economic conditions.
