Eye patch
An eye patch (or a dressing of some sort) must be placed over the eye after a foreign body has been removed from the cornea. The eye patch must be secured in place with tape and the patient told not to remove it for 24 hours, unless the foreign object was organic in which case the patch must remain on for a few days. This is done so that the cornea can regenerate without irritation being caused by a moving eyelid.
