Placenta accreta is a rare condition in which the placenta is attached too deeply to the uterine wall. Placenta succenturia is an abnormal condition where an accessory lobe of placenta is connected by an artery or vein to the main placenta. In circumvallate placenta, the fetal membranes (chorion and amnion) "double back" on the side facing the fetus. Normal delivery of the placenta occurs shortly after birth of the newborn.
