Differential reinforcement of low rates (DRL) is reinforcement of a behavior that occurs at a low rate. Limited responding DRL specifies a maximum occurrence of behavior in order for reinforcement. This is ideal when some behavior is tolerable but less is preferred. In this example, Kim's parents can tolerate her standing up some, but want the behavior reduced.
