Ibn Battuta was a Berber from Morocco whose lengthy travels include Africa, Europe, and Asia as destinations. He traveled more than his contemporary, Marco Polo, who only followed a land route to China, as opposed to traveling by sea. While he was traveling, Battuta often struggled with his xenophobia when dealing with different cultures. While most of his travels are attributed to him, it is highly likely that Ibn Battuta could have taken other traveler's accounts while writing his journal.
