Practice models and the evidence supporting a measure's rigor (e.g., reliability, validity) and its value (e.g., intended purposes) should inform assessment selection (Hinojosa & Kramer, 2014). Multiple publications describe measures commonly used in occupational therapy (AOTA, 2016b). Box 18-3 identifies several. These assessments obtain people's perspectives and determine their capabilities, but they do not consider systemic barriers or resources.
