Although the purpose of the ADA was well intended, research has suggested that the employment rates of persons with disabilities did not significantly increase after the passage of this legislation. One possible reason for the lack of marked change in employment rates was that many persons with disabilities were concerned about the loss of benefits, particularly health benefits.
