Diarrhea can occur as a result of enteral feedings. This can be a problem for the resident and must be reported to the nurse immediately. Missing the ability to eat solid foods is not necessarily unusual and does not indicate a problem with the feedings. It is understandable that the resident might miss the companionship that occurs with having meals with the other residents. Watching television during the feedings is perfectly acceptable.
