An ideal antimicrobial agent should be soluble in body fluids in order to be effective in treating infections. If it is not soluble, it may not be able to reach the site of infection and may not be effective in killing the microbes. Unpredictable toxicity and interactions with other drugs or foods are not desirable qualities for an antimicrobial agent as they can lead to harmful side effects and decreased efficacy. While some antimicrobial agents may have toxicity and/or interactions with other drugs or foods, these are generally not considered ideal qualities.
