Community policing requires that the police service develop the capacity to determine the priorities and concerns of the community being policed, if such a capacity does not already exist. In addition, it is essential that police services develop ways to solicit continual feedback from the community, so that policies and initiatives can be enhanced, modified, or, if found to be ineffective, discontinued.
