Imagine that you could create your ideal counseling position in a school or college/university setting. Write up the job description as it might appear in an advertisement for the job opening. Include the following components: (a) the specific functions of your role; (b) the types of clients you would serve; and (c) the client issues with which you would work. After drafting your job description, ask several counselors who work in that setting to read it and provide you with feedback. Ask them to comment on how close your ideal situation is to their real-life experience of the position. Describe what you have learned after consulting with these professionals in the field.
