Tenancy in partnership does not have the characteristic of survivorship like that found in a joint tenancy. In a joint tenancy, upon the death of one joint tenant, the surviving joint tenant(s) automatically inherit the deceased joint tenant's share of the property. In a tenancy in partnership, however, the deceased partner's share of the partnership property does not automatically pass to the surviving partners.
