Peptide YY (PYY) binding to the Y2 receptor is known to exert anorexigenic effects, reducing appetite and food intake.  Receptors Y1, Y2, and Y5 preferentially bind NPY and PYY, whereas, Y4 exhibits highest affinity for PP. The Y2 receptor is involved in anorexigenic responses, whereas the Y1 and Y5 receptors have been shown to induce orexigenic responses.
