While barbiturates are probably the oldest of the sedative hynotics, they are not currently used for anxiety/insomnia because

B) barbiturates only came in short-acting forms.
C) barbiturates can be lethal, while benzodiazepenes are much safer.
D) barbiturates do not help with insomnia.
