The "hiker puzzle" typically demonstrates how the representation of a problem influences how difficult it is to solve, showing that the way a problem is framed or presented can significantly affect our ability to find a solution.  Sometimes we need to find a whole new way of thinking about something. The word "proof" may lead us in the wrong direction.
