There is growing evidence to support the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions for anxiety disorders. A systematic review and meta-analysis of 24 studies found that mindfulness-based interventions were effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety across a range of disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder (Hofmann et al., 2010). Other studies have shown that mindfulness-based interventions may improve emotion regulation, reduce avoidance, and increase acceptance, all of which are important components of anxiety treatment (Roemer & Orsillo, 2012).
