Most countries of the world have more than one nationality or ethnicity within their borders, making them multi-national states to some degree. This can be seen through the recognition of minority groups and their languages, and the allocation of political power and resources to different regions or groups within the country. While nationalism may play a role in shaping the identities of different groups within a country, it does not necessarily make the country a nation-state.
