The advantage of the linked list is that it is dynamic while the array is static. However, the array supports random access (the ability to access any element of the array easily) whereas a linked list does not support this (to access the 8ᵗʰ element, the first 7 elements must be traversed). So, the linked list has a major disadvantage, and even though is dynamic, many programmers choose to use an array to implement a list because of this drawback.
