Assist Control is a mode of ventilation in which every breath delivered to the patient,be it a mandatory or spontaneously initiated breath,is controlled by the ventilator.If the patient is apneic,they will receive the respiratory rate set by the clinician using the rate control.If the patient is generating their own spontaneous efforts,each time the ventilator detects that effort it will cycle on and deliver either a preset volume or preset pressure to the patient depending on the type of control that is set.
