Tocopherol is another name for vitamin E. The remaining terms are forms of vitamin K, a fat-soluble vitamin. All forms belong to a group of chemical compounds known as quinones. Vitamin K₁, phylloquinone, occurs in green plants. Vitamin K₂, menaquinone, is formed by Escherichia coli bacteria in the large intestine and is found in animal tissues. Vitamin K₃, menadione, is a synthetic compound whereas the other two are naturally occurring.
