Translation is the process of synthesizing a protein using the information encoded in the messenger RNA (mRNA) molecule. It involves the matching of codons (three nucleotides) on the mRNA with their corresponding anticodons on transfer RNA (tRNA), which carry amino acids. RNA cannot build DNA as it lacks thymine and also ribonucleotides have a different sugar compared to deoxyribonucleotides used in DNA.
