Microalbuminuria is the first manifestation of diabetic nephropathy. Treatment with an ACE inhibitor or angiotensin receptor blocker is the treatment of choice. Depending on the patient, more frequent blood glucose and blood pressure monitoring may be in order, but is not specific to this disorder and does not treat it.
