The Sassanid Empire arose in the third century C.E. in Iran and lasted until the seventh century. The Hungarian and Austro-Hungarian Empires did not arise until much later, in the ninth and nineteenth centuries, respectively. While the Persian Empire did exist before the third century, it had been conquered by Alexander the Great and did not regain its independence as a distinct empire until the third century under the Sassanid dynasty.
