Empowerment is all about providing employees with the necessary tools, resources and support to develop a sense of meaning and purpose in their work, cultivate competence to perform well, determine their own work processes and achieve impact through their contributions. Clarity, power and punishment aren't necessarily empowering beliefs among employees. The capacity to earn, refine or understand is also not necessarily indicative of empowerment. Although information and knowledge might be important to empower employees, rewards alone are not enough to foster true empowerment.
