Scenario A. Carmela and Penny are colleagues who are experiencing problems in their jobs. They relate their experiences to each other because they are very concerned about their situations. Carmela speaks of a conversation with her immediate supervisor in which he (the supervisor) tells her that if she will stay with him for the weekend the next time they take a business trip together, he will recommend her for a promotion.
