OPERATIVE REPORT
PRE/POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Recurrent balanitis and phimosis.
PROCEDURE PERFORMED: Circumcision.
PROCEDURE: The child was given general mask anesthetic as well as caudal block for postoperative pain control. He was prepped and draped in the supine position, foreskin retracted, prepucial adhesions broken down. Circumcision was then performed using a dorsal slit technique. Hemostasis was achieved with judicious use of electrocautery and chromic ties. Prepuce was re-anastomosed to the penile skin using 5-0 chromic catgut. Vaseline gauze dressing was applied. The patient tolerated the procedure well and transferred to the recovery room in good condition.
