A conditioned aversion is a type of classical conditioning in which a learned negative response to a particular stimulus is developed. For example, if someone becomes sick after eating a particular food, they may develop a conditioned aversion to that food and feel disgusted or nauseated even at the sight or smell of it. Desensitization is the opposite of this, in which a person is gradually exposed to a feared stimulus to decrease their fear response.
