Supply-side economists believed that cutting taxes would stimulate economic growth and ultimately result in an increase in tax revenue. This idea, known as the Laffer Curve, was popularized by economist Arthur Laffer and was a key component of Reaganomics in the 1980s. Supply-side economics is not associated with Paul Krugman or the National Review, and is distinct from Keynesian economics, which emphasizes government spending as a means of economic stimulus. While some critics did deride supply-side economics as a "crank doctrine," it was also embraced by many conservative politicians and policymakers.
