Homophily refers to the tendency of individuals to form connections with others who are similar to them in some way. Rather than pushing away enemies, it is a matter of naturally gravitating towards those who share similar interests, values, and backgrounds. This phenomenon does apply to race and ethnicity, as well as other factors such as gender, socioeconomic status, and education level. While it can lead to the formation of tight-knit social networks, homophily can also contribute to social inequality and exclusivity. However, there is no evidence to suggest that it contributes to social decapitalization.
