Nonmyeloablative conditioning is a type of conditioning that is used in transplantation when the recipient's hematopoietic progenitor cells are not completely destroyed prior to transplantation. This type of conditioning is also called reduced-intensity conditioning or mini-transplantation. In this approach, lower doses of chemotherapy and/or radiation are used to create space for donor cells to engraft without completely wiping out the recipient's immune system.
