Cluster headaches are characterized by severe unilateral pain usually around the eye accompanied by ipsilateral nasal congestion or rhinorrhea, conjunctival injection, eyelid edema, and/or ptosis. Nuchal rigidity and nausea/vomiting are not typical with cluster headaches. Bilateral headache is also not a common symptom of cluster headaches.
