It does not always result in seed formation, as other factors such as fertilization and embryo development also come into play. It is not the transfer of pollen from the stigma to the anther, as this is not a natural process. Pollination occurs before seed formation, not immediately after, and while flowers do produce pollen, pollination is specifically the transfer of that pollen to another part of the same or a different flower.
