The French and Indian War demonstrated to England that increasing control over the colonies would not be easy, as the colonies resisted English attempts to centralize their authority. This eventually led to tensions that contributed to the American Revolution. The war did not greatly enrich the English government's finances, but it did begin a period of almost continual warfare for England.
